About ICU IV Free
Version 8.0.1 — Free Privacy Edition
Product purpose
ICU IV Free is a safety-focused clinical calculation tool for continuous intravenous infusions in intensive care and critical care settings, especially in limited-resource environments. It provides the complete infusion-calculation engine without registration, payment or persistent patient information.
Current supported scope
ICU IV Free supports 28 medication entries across vasopressors, sedation and analgesia, antiarrhythmics, metabolic and electrolyte drugs, metabolic and endocrine drugs, anticoagulation, and antihypertensives. For each supported drug, the calculator provides preparation instructions, concentration calculation, pump rate, mL/min, gravity rate where clinically appropriate, bag-duration estimate, and medication warnings.
Free versus Professional
ICU IV Free deliberately excludes patient-information fields and saved records because it is an anonymous, single-calculation tool. ICU IV Professional adds patient-linked records, active-infusion monitoring, IV labels and institutional printing for documented hospital workflow. Those patient fields support identification, reporting and continuity of work; they do not unlock a different calculation engine. Essential calculation functionality is never withheld from the Free edition. The paid Professional application includes a trial.
Intended users
ICU nurses, ICU technicians, and physicians involved in continuous IV infusion preparation and administration in intensive and critical care settings.

Limitations
ICU IV Free supports infusion preparation and rate calculation. It does not replace medication orders, pharmacy verification, institutional protocols, compatibility references, independent double-checks, infusion-pump safeguards or clinician judgment. It is intended for adult ICU patients; neonatal, paediatric, and renal/hepatic dose adjustments are not within scope. It is not a prescribing system, an autonomous dosing system, a medical device, or hospital-approved software.
